Grad Sheryl Lowe Designs Namesake Jewelry Collection
Santa Barbara, California-based jewelry designer Sheryl Lowe was born with a love and passion for design. “I used to paint fingerprints on my jeans when I was 10 years old. All my friends wanted them,” she told Haute Living in 2018. The 1982 Fashion Design Graduate also made custom t-shirts in junior high and created “beachy” jewelry pieces for high school friends. After working as a leading Hollywood makeup artist and interior designer, Sheryl – who is married to actor Rob Lowe – launched Sheryl Lowe Jewelry, and just launched a pop-up shop in the Montecito Country Mart.
The eclectic and effortlessly glamorous collection is inspired by her global travels and nature’s raw elements. “My creative inspiration comes from my life, love and friendship,” she has said. “I am inspired by different cultures and people who I encounter during my travels. Everywhere I go I bring a piece back with me whether it is through inspiration or actual stones.” Her namesake jewelry line, which includes the men's collection Mr. Lowe, is sold at retailers such as Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.
An official member of the CFDA, Sheryl was inspired by her close friend Maria Shriver to advocate for women’s and children’s causes. A portion of proceeds from Sheryl Lowe Jewelry goes to important organizations such as The Malala Fund, The Dream Foundation, and UNICEF, among many others. She has said that the idea of paying it forward plays an important role in her life and is the reason her business model has always included philanthropy.
"It's not enough for me to create beautiful things," she writes on her website. "I want my work to resonate and have a positive impact on the lives of not only the women who wear it, but on all women and families. Everyone deserves to have more beauty in their lives."
Sheryl Lowe Designs is located in the courtyard at the Montecito Country Mart on Coast Village Road in Montecito. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
